After three years of planning and our ground breaking ceremony on April 29th, the Facilities Task Force will now be providing construction updates.

We are ready to “Step Forward in Faith”.

Our goal is to keep you informed and alert you of upcoming events that may affect your access to the building.

The Lake Elmo City Council has approved the septic variance needed to move forward with our building project.

The James Steele Construction Company has applied for the building permit and is in daily contact with the city waiting for it to be issued.

You may have participated in the move of the quilters to the 3549 Building or noticed the library is packed up. There have been many active participants in the beginning packing up of the Sunday School rooms and nursery (a huge thank you to those who have and will helped make this happen).

As we prepare for construction we will be moving quite a few things out of the building and you may have noticed the trailer on site that we will be storing them until construction is completed. During the week of May 20th the construction company moved their office trailer into the parking lot. At times there will be construction materials stored on site, so please keep your eyes open for workers and activity during the week and changes to traffic flow during the construction period.

There also be some detours in the building, so be on the look-out for signs giving directions to various areas of the building.

Thanks again for your support as we begin the exciting construction phase of our Stepping Forward in Faith project.

Construction Progress

After three years of planning updates and our ground breaking ceremony on April 29th, the Facility Task Force will now be providing weekly Construction Updates. We are ready to "Step Forward in Faith". Our goal is to keep you informed and alert you of upcoming events that may affect your access to the building.

Actual construction is scheduled to begin as early as May 16th. We are waiting for city council approval of the septic system at their May 15th meeting.  In preparation, the construction company will be putting their office (trailer) in the northwest corner of our parking lot. The initial construction schedule projects completion by late October, early November.

We will have weekly meetings with the construction company and initially get instructions on what areas of the building will be coming under construction and need to be packed up and available for renovation. Don't be surprised to find the library with no books or the fireside room with no furniture. The James Steele Construction company specializes in church renovation and will do everything in their power to make the building safe and accessible for our Sunday and special services.

The majority of the building will need to be packed up by May 21st. You will be contacted by a FTF member or please contact us with questions on a particular area. There will be a trailer on site Thursday, May 17th after 5:00 pm to begin loading boxes and items that will be stored until construction is complete.  If you are willing and able we ask for your help in loading the trailer with respective items throughout the church over the weekend of May 18 – 20th.  There is a sign-up sheet in the narthex to help with the move.

So, look for our weekly updates and be prepared for a little inconvenience as we renovate.  We pray you will like the results.
